Not every anime has the same animation style, and the vast majority of the anime that I've seen has little/no "randomness" in it, excluding things like Lucky Star and Nichijou. Its certainly not because Bruce Willis is an incredible actor, its because the protagonist's humanity is inherently appealing. Jackie Chan is the master of that. Compare Die Hard or Chan's movies to modern action thrillers and there is definitely something special. It really stands out.
